catalog_to_apparent

ssapy.utils.catalog_to_apparent(ra, dec, t, observer=None, pmra=0, pmdec=0, parallax=0, skipAberration=False)[source][source]

Convert ra/dec of stars from catalog positions (J2000/ICRS) to apparent positions, correcting for proper motion, parallax, annual and diurnal aberration.

Parameters:
  • ra (array_like) – J2000 right ascension in radians.

  • dec (array_like) – J2000 declination in radians.

  • t (float or astropy.time.Time) – If float, then should correspond to GPS seconds; i.e., seconds since 1980-01-06 00:00:00 UTC

  • observer (Observer, optional) – Observer to use for diurnal aberration correction. If None, then no diurnal aberration correction is performed.

  • pmra (array_like, optional) – proper motion in right ascension / declination, in milliarcsec per year

  • pmdec (array_like, optional) – proper motion in right ascension / declination, in milliarcsec per year

  • parallax (array_like, optional) – annual parallax in arcseconds

  • skipAberration (bool, optional) – Don’t apply aberration correction. Mostly useful during testing…

Returns:

ara, adec – Apparent RA and dec in radians
